Tonewoods

The following tonewoods are available for custom build only unless specified otherwise.  I reserve my best woods for my clients projects.   The following are selections I have on hand ready to build with.  There are more than this as these are the current offerings.  The price indicated for the wood is an up charge on the base guitar.

Enjoy looking:

Cambodian rosewood. $225

This is the only set I have of this and will only make an OM. It is the wood as illustrated on the Acoustipelli page. This wood is tops for tone.

Cocobolo #1 $175

There is a bit of knot in the back but it looks very nice. It appears dark in the photo because of Cocobolos nature. There is a lot of oil in this wood. One of my favorite tone woods. This set will just make a GA size guitar.

Cocobolo #1 $175

Here's another view of that set. As you can see nice figure.

Cocobolo #2 $160

This is a nice set and is somewhat "plain". This set will still make a nice guitar in both appearance and in tone. Sized large enough for GA.

Koa #1 with Curl. $295

The phot doesn't show how nice this set is. Not quite in that totally cool zone but not far either.

Koa #2 with lotsa Curl. $325

This is one of those cream your jeans sets but at a "reasonable" price for Koa.

Black Acacia #1 $175

Black Acacia is also know as Austalian Blackwood and Tasmanian Blackwood and is an Acacia very much related to Hawiian Koa. This set has nice figure and is large enough for a GA.

Black Acacia #2 $175

This is another nice set large enough for a GA.

Koa #generic. Ordinary Koa N/C

While this is "odinary" it is still fairly nice I think. I bought a bunch of this to make guitars from and it will be available to others at $75 set.

Movingui #1 $225

Ther are only four sets of this for guitars that I am aware of and I have them all. Don't be surprised if this becomes a fairly popular wood for guitars. The photo doesn't do the wood justice as the flash washed out the yellow color and under the room lights it looks stark white. Go over to my bow making section and look at the target bow.. The middle accent strip is this wood.

Ziricote #1 $325

This is a great tone wood and looks good as well. It is shown with sides for an OM but I can make this a GA by adding a differnet set of sides to.

Ziricote #2 $275

This wood is going to become very scarce in the near future and will likely climb in price. I have more uncut wood in storage.

Ziricote #3 $275

This set is great and will be offered up for purchase. It is large enough to make a GA.

Ziricote #4 $300

This is one really choice set of lumber. Shown with two side options, OM and GA

Ziricote #4 $300

Close up detail of #4. This is a choice set.

Honduran Rosewood #generic N/C

These sets will make GA and OM size guitars. Most of this is like Indian Rosewood in that it pretty much looks the same. Some has a little interesting patterns. Available for purchase separately and would be agreat choice for a first scratch built guitar. $85 / set. Specify size.

Sapalle # generic N/C

Another one of those good generic woods. While some of the Sapalle has huge figure in it, this is like most Mahogany which Sapalle is and is fairly uniform. I use this alot for neck and tail blocks because it works nicer than Mahogany. It isn't as a gummy. Available for separate purchase $50.
